The week ahead: May 14th through May 20th of 2018:

Sweet mother, we have an intense week ahead of us, lovelies.

First, we have a new moon in the sign of sensual, earthy, practical, comfort loving Taurus on the 15th/16th. Being in the midst of Taurus season still, themes around beauty, love, money, and your possessions have been on the table to examine. We’re looking for something real in these categories and nothing else will suffice. It looks like that same expectation will be amped up at this new moon, bringing to the forefront of our minds what needs to go and what can stay; what’s real and what’s not. The insightful astrologer Leah Whitehorse from leahwhitehorse.com says,

Taurus…It’s all about stopping to smell the roses, comfort and security, sensual pleasure and enjoying the good life. Work hard, play hard could be this sign’s motto. With a powerful practical streak, Taurus prefers a safe, well-trodden path and no surprises. Oh Taurus, are you in for a shock!

If you’re Taurus and about to panic at the above sentence, please let me reassure you. My Sun is at 0 degrees of Taurus and therefore Uranus is just about to hit my Sun. And this energy is WILD, much like this chart. If you feel a thrum of fear threading through your veins, just remember that it’s adrenaline, present also when we’re in a state of pure excitement. It’s all about how you interpret it. Be scared or get excited, either way Uranus is entering Taurus just four hours after this New Moon. Then for the next few months until November, we will get a preview of how Uranus is going to revolutionise and upgrade our money, food, agriculture, security and values. On all fronts, we will be breaking new ground. What challenges us is that Taurus just doesn’t like change and therein lies the problem. Many of us will want to stick our hooves into the mud and not budge. But budge we must.

There is immense anticipation in this chart with Uranus on the absolute final degree of Aries and Mars, ruler of Aries, also anaretic at 29 degrees of Capricorn. Mars and Uranus will perfect a square, the second in a series of three, on May 16. These two anaretic planets are like sparks leaping from live wires. There’s the potential to jump the gun, or the gate, whichever analogy works! Any hard aspect between Mars and Uranus is restless. We want to be free NOW. But at the same time, with the Taurus influence we don’t want to feel rushed and we don’t want to lose what makes us feel safe and secure.

Both Mars and Pluto form trines to the New Moon. This could be helpful as we have power, will, drive, motivation and passion at our disposal. But trines too can be slippery. There’s nothing to stop this energy careering out of control. With Mars anaretic and square to Uranus, there’s more than a hint of ‘red rag to a bull’ scenario, so we need to stay aware and conscious of our triggers.

Still, with all this muscle in the chart, it’s like the cosmos is saying, you’re stronger than you think you are. Projects begun now can be accomplished with sheer determination however we need to stay calm and vigilant. With Uranus about to fall into Taurus, what we currently accept as solid ground and absolute certainty is liable to change very quickly.

And speaking of absolute fuckery, let’s take a look at Uranus, the planet of chaos, upheaval, liberation and revolution, that is moving in to the sign of Taurus and will stay there for the next 8 years. This is a big fucking deal since this planet moves so slow and portends to MAJOR shifts and changes in your life that take time. To get a better idea of where this might be for you, look to your natal and chart and see where Taurus is. Whatever house Taurus is in will give you clues as to what’s getting revolutionized in your world. For me, Taurus is in my 10th house of social status (work and career) as well as in my Mars (the action I take) and my Mercury (the way I think and communicate). Feels and looks like I’m about to get a shakedown and revamp in the way I present myself to the world or what I do in my community, the way I take action, and with the way I think and communicate. Things feel intense now, to say the least. So if you find you don’t even recognize yourself lately, at least in terns of what you thought you wanted or where your life is going, welcome to the club. But maybe, we need the break from imposed values and meanings; maybe, it’s time we define those things for ourselves and this upheaval is giving us the chance to do it right. The awesome astrologer Sabrina Monarch from monarchastrology.com says,

This week sees the major astrological event of Uranus moving into the sign of Taurus, just a few hours after a New Moon in Taurus. With this pairing, the basic becomes revolutionary. Uranus is classically ahead of its time, and most of us have become familiar with the notion of “radical self-love” – a phrase well-suited for the pairing of the revolutionary Uranus and the inner-side of Venus, Taurus. But now we’re going to see how far that can go! On the more grave end, we can be addressing our inner and collective traumas around survival. How can we innovate such that thriving is the baseline, and the basics are there so that survival isn’t taking up one’s time and energy? What would happen if more (perchance all) beings had what they needed? I know this is lofty, but Uranus is also about Utopia, and contemplating Utopia allows us to stretch closer toward it. I’m asking the question because I want to invite us as a collective to really consider the implications of what the world would look like if people had access to more resources and grew up well-nourished, rather than having to address basic trauma for the rest of their lives that came from growing up with lack. (Uranus is also about justice, and Taurus relates to our survival needs.)

The Universe, or Nature – moves towards complexity and we may find that as we address our basic needs (food, comfort, self-esteem), we experience radical amounts of space and freedom to develop more complex parts of ourselves. If these are the years you really want to take your life game to the next level, start with your roots, and tend to your body! Uranus is also about technology, and those of you who are geeks about manifestation or law of attraction like myself, know that feelings of wealth/wellbeing can be attuned to vibrationally and in a real sense channeled, and this consciousness technology is yet another access point for thriving.

So how in the living hell do we work with the energy of this week? My advice is this: Take care of your basic needs. Give yourself enough water and food. Give yourself permission to take that dream job or go after a love interest. Give yourself a chance to go back to school or dream about what you’d really like your future to look like, free from imposed restrictions and demands. Give yourself the right to let go of your security blanket or things that are holding you back. BE FREE. Most importantly, be REAL about how you feel. This week, take care of your basic needs. It’s about god damned time <3

New Moon Meditation

Consider doing an invocation, prayer or mediation on the night of the 19th or 20th to help you break free from old habits or to help you get clear on your new way of living. Feel free to use this invocation or make up your own. I like to write down what I’m trying to work towards and keep it in a place I can see it everyday. At the full moon, I’ll check off what I’ve accomplished towards my goals and reassess what working and what’s not.

Go ahead and pick a card from above (pick one, two, or all three cards–pick what you’re drawn to). The stone you see in the picture is black tourmaline. Ancient magicians relied upon Black Tourmaline, known as Schorl, to protect them from earth demons as they cast their spells. Today this stone is still revered as a premier talisman of protection, a psychic shield deflecting and dispelling negative energies, entities, or destructive forces. It guards against radiation and environmental pollutants, and is highly useful in purifying and neutralizing one’s own negative thoughts and internal conflicts, and turning them into positive, usable energy. Black Tourmaline is also a powerful grounding stone, electrical in nature, providing a connection between Earth and the human spirit. Its supportive energy aligns the energy centers of the body and channels healing light throughout the system. It promotes a sense of power and self-confidence, allowing for a clearer, more objective view of the world. It is empowering to those who must live or work in challenging environments or when facing difficult circumstances. One of Tourmaline’s most distinguishing properties is its ability to become electrically charged simply by heating or rubbing it. When charged, one end becomes positive and the other negative, allowing it to attract, or repel, particles of dust or bits of paper. This property of pyroelectricity (from heat) or piezoelectricity (from pressure or rubbing) was well-known to the Dutch traders of the 1700s who used Tourmaline to pull ash from their Meerschaum pipes, calling the stone Aschentrekker, or “ash puller.” Tourmaline is a shamanic stone, providing protection during ritual work. It can be used for scrying, and was traditionally used to point out a cause of trouble or an offender, and to indicate a good direction in which to move. To use Black Tourmaline in purification and protection rituals, create a ring of eight small natural tumblestones for a protection circle or place upon an altar. If you chose card #1: Your message this week is about Patience and Perspective. Your card goes on to say that a prophet of calm and patience, Praying Mantis changes his landscape by hanging upside down, reveling in a moment of observance and clarity while he waits. This is a time of suspension between the physical and spiritual worlds. He is your guide in opening yourself to new perspectives, through which you will discover solutions and gain new insight. When life is at a standstill, look to the past for lessons learned, yet look to the future through the eyes of spirit renewed. A shift in perspective develops foresight, which will bring a sense of peace and understanding in where you want to go. In the stillness of meditation, you are accessing greater depth of wisdom and creativity. Additional Meanings: Perspective • Patience • Enlightenment • Sacrifice • Prophecy • Letting go.

If you chose card #2: Your message this week is about Decisions and Direction. Your card goes on to say that peaceful Gecko is adept at moving between the worlds of subconscious and the conscious. She taps into a balance of forces to clear the mind, bringing truth to light. She’s accustomed to facing fears, and is preparing herself to choose her next direction. Gecko reminds you that you have the power to unleash the energies needed to deliver a clear outcome. Speak your truth, and do not allow indecision to hold you back. Open your eyes so that you may see your options more clearly. Seek solutions from within, and have patience with yourself. There will be a knowing within your higher-consciousness when it is time to act. Additional Meanings: Decisions • Choices • Courage • Truth • Preparedness • Confidence.

If you chose card #3: Your message this week is about Change and Possibilities. Events may at times seem random, but the wheel of life holds an intelligent structure and a higher working force. Akin to the energies of the turning wheel, Octopus is a master at adapting fluidly to change. With the ability to gracefully move through new challenges, her flexibility is a reminder to acclimate to the ever-changing cycles of life. Octopus will be your guide as you move towards your goals in unexpected ways to achieve your desired results. Go with the flow and release past restrictions. The key to success is adaptability. When you tune into the rhythm of the Universe, you will be the master of your own destiny. Additional Meanings: Change • Possibilities • New Beginnings • Adaptation • Good Fortune • A turning point • Movement.

My hope for you this week is that you allow yourself to breath more deeply and notice all the good things going on around you too. It can feel super overwhelming right now and that nothing is the same. It’s true, nothing is, but that doesn’t mean you don’t have any power here. Take care of your basic needs and trust where everything is taking you. When everything feels like it’s falling a part, it’s actually falling into place <3

This is your week! make it an amazing one 🙂
