The week ahead: January 28th through February 4th 2018:

We’re officially in Aquarius season as of the 21st, and it’s time to get weird. The water bearer is ruled by Uranus, the planet of insight, individuality, electricity, random change, and forward thinking. These guys do not fit into a category or the status quo, and the status quo is thoroughly terrified of Aquarians or anyone ruled by Uranus because of their refusal to be categorized. Aquarius is known for its focus on humanity as a whole and connecting with others via community or a bigger picture. They are also known for being a little aloof while having a more difficult time connecting with others in a one on one basis; the bigger the crowd, the more connected they feel.  This is a big sign, ruled by a big planet, and even though they are the sign of the water bearer, Aquarius is actually an air sign, representing how fast their minds work. All their power derives from the lightning fast connections they make and their ability to see the bigger picture at large. These are my favorite weirdos of the zodiac, and you can talk to them about anything, from the existence of aliens to their fav organic recipes for breakfast smoothies, it’s real hard to be bored around an Aquarius; think Agent Mulder from X-Files.

We also have (get this shit) a super, blue, full moon lunar eclipse coming up on the 31st in the sign of Leo. Remember that eclipse craziness we had over the summer? Yeah, that’s gonna get triggered again here, so think back to that time in August and the things that came up for you around then. Click here if you need to refresh your memory from the last lunar eclipse. Remember that eclipse season acts as a doorway: this full moon lunar eclipse is closing a door and the next solar eclipse (Feb 15th) opens up another doorway. To what? Well, that’s up to you lovely, but I do hope that whatever came up for you at the last eclipse is being improved upon now.

Leo is a sign that prides itself on its sense of play and generosity, with big egos, big hearts, and even bigger hair, these guys know how to take center stage and shine bright. This is a highly creative sign and also reps our inner child, so if you find lately that old trauma or pain is resurfacing right now, look for ways you can bring your personal brand of warmth, kindness, generosity, or creativity to the situation to find ways of healing the past. The awesome astrologer Leah WhiteHorse from ww.LeahWhitehorse.com says,

“With the Moon in the dramatic, showy sign of Leo, this brings the 5th house of the mundane chart into the foreground. Leo and the 5th house relate to the entertainment industry, children, drama, creativity and self-expression, pastimes and hobbies, pleasure, sports, theaters and society functions.”

“As the Leo-Aquarius axis is activated by the eclipse, we are also looking at themes around standing out (Leo) versus blending in (Aquarius), the individual (Leo) compared to the group (Aquarius). Our collective and individual identities are being challenged.”

“As the North Node is passing through the sign of Leo currently, we are in a period of time where we need to pay attention to our inner child. Leo rules the heart and like children, we’re now encouraged to live from our hearts, returning to a place of authentic joy…”

“Ceres takes center stage in this eclipse by being tightly conjoined with the Moon. This is about nurturing our creativity, looking after our inner child. A quincunx from the Moon and Ceres to Neptune asks ‘where have you sacrificed your creative inspiration’? Where have you chosen television or alcohol over self-driven fun? Where did you lose yourself instead of placing yourself at the center of your world? The quincunx to Neptune is awkward because we’re not comfortable with being the star of the show but it also keeps us humble enough to recognize that everyone is a star in their own right. Whilst at times we might not feel entirely in tune with others, or even ourselves, it’s about giving it a go anyway. Our imagination is unlimited and Ceres holds a cornucopia to represent abundance. The well of inspiration never truly runs dry. It’s only when we starve ourselves of attention that it’s hard to tap.”

There is hope by the end of the week when we reach Imbolc or St Brigid’s Day on Friday, the midpoint between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. Life is starting to emerge again, even though the cold and snow may have us feeling otherwise. There should start to be some physical signs emerging from the Earth and animals that Spring is on the way and so is more sunshine! Think about lighting some candles this week if you need a reminder that more light is on the way, or to reignite hope in your soul if you’re feeling low.

So how can we use the energy of this week to help us? My advise is this (and taken from the last lunar eclipse we had): What issues from the past (old attitudes, habits, or perceptions; the unconscious crap) are keeping you stuck, and how can you finally release these outworn ideas and actions, especially if they support stories about your rejection or abandonment? How can you overcome fear of rejection, accept your uniqueness, and allow yourself to shine? Where in your life are you rebelling without a cause (saying no to just say no or because you don’t want to face something), and how can you stop that bullshit so you can deal with your emotional/insecurity issues? Added bonus this week: look for the root cause or where these behaviors started and help your inner child to heal. If you can find the roots, you can weed them out and replant something that better suits you. This week, face your inner child and what they’re trying to communicate to you. Your healing, growth, and inner brilliance depend on it <3

Think about drawing down the moon this week. The full moon is a time when relationships of all kinds are highlighted, including the one with yourself. It’s also a time when projects started at the last new moon can be harvested or completed. Take stock right now of any imbalances in your partnerships and wrap up projects that need to move on to the next level. You can also set out a bowl of water at this full moon to soak up all the energy. You can use it later to scry in or use the water to nourish yourself with. If you like to do incantations, prayer or mediation at the full moon, this will add some pep to your step. I like this Pagan/Wiccan incantation I found that says, “Mother Goddess, lend me your light. Give me your power on this faithful night. I invoke you into my being and soul. Fill up my vessel, make me feel whole. I stand before you in awe and in love. I cherish your gifts you send from above. I ask you tonight to show unto me. My mother, my Goddess, So Mote It Be.” Feel free to change this in any way you like or to make it your own, any way you see fit. Make sure to face the full moon and out stretch your arms so you can take everything in. Enjoy this powerful energy!

Go ahead and pick a card from above (pick one, two, or all three cards–pick what you’re dawn to). The stone you see in the picture above is rose quartz. The fair and lovely Rose Quartz, with its gentle pink essence, is a stone of the heart, a Crystal of Unconditional Love. It carries a soft feminine energy of compassion and peace, tenderness and healing, nourishment and comfort. It speaks directly to the Heart Chakra, dissolving emotional wounds, fears and resentments, and circulates a Divine loving energy throughout the entire aura. Reawakening the heart to its own innate love, it provides a deep sense of personal fulfillment and contentment, allowing one the capacity to truly give and receive love from others. Called the Heart Stone, Rose Quartz may have been used as a love token as early as 600 B.C. and is still an important talisman of relationships. It is quite effective in attracting new love, romance and intimacy, or in developing a closer bond with family or friends. It supports connection within groups and community, and carries a high spiritual attunement to the Earth, Universe, and the Divine. Rose Quartz also inspires the love of beauty, in oneself and others, in nature, and especially that which stimulates the imagination – art, music and the written word. Prized in the ancient world for its powers of physical beautification, facial masks of Rose Quartz have been recovered from Egyptian tombs, thought by the Egyptians and Romans to clear the complexion and prevent wrinkles.
