The week ahead: January 1st through January 7th 2018:

It’s super full moon time on the 1st, Lovelies! This go around, it’s in the dreamy, family oriented, motherly sign of Cancer, with a special emphasis on your home and being loved and accepted. This sign is also known for its intuitive nature, so don’t be surprised if you feel more in tune with everything around you right now. Actually, the word, feel, might be a key word to working with this full moon. Notice your feelings (both emotional and physically in your body). What are your emotions telling you? Did you notice how your muscles tensed up around that person when they got close? Can you feel how your body relaxes when you see someone you love? Do you notice how you unconsciously take a deep breath when you see a picture of the ocean? Now is the time to get quiet and tune in because really, you’re being given a moment where clear communication can be had with yourself. If you normally have a difficult time knowing what you feel, this full moon should make things crystal for you. If you choose to listen to what you have to say, epiphanies should abound, so write them down so you can do something about them. Anything involving water will be beneficial as well and perfect for the energy of this moon (Cancer is a water sign, so anything done with water adds potency to your intentions), so please drink plenty of it and keep your self hydrated and maybe consider saying a prayer over your water before you drink it, or infuse it with Reiki, or just speak some loving words. Let the water be a symbolic gesture of washing away the stuff you’re ready to part with, too. I think this would be a great full moon to do a detox or Epsom bath, especially if you had one too many, the night before. The inspired astrologer Leah Whitehorse from www.Leahwhitehorse.com says,

“The Moon is on the Sabian symbol ‘A Chinese Woman Nursing A Baby Whose Aura Reveals Him To Be The Reincarnation Of A Great Teacher’. This symbol advocates that what is important during this Full Moon is care of the soul. It’s about nurturing the inner divine child. Tenderness allows our true nature to be revealed. At New Years, many of us succumb to the traditional pressure to set new goals. We’re told they must be ‘smart’ – Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely – all good Capricorn words! Yet this Sabian symbol and the Cancer Moon suggest that this year, maybe we need to feel our way through and allow life to unfold. We don’t need to defer to an authority out there. There is a deeper and wiser knowing self maturing from within.

Our history plays a prominent part in how we respond to any situation but whilst old knowledge is still relevant today, this is an opportunity to look at life with fresh eyes. We do not have to be at the mercy of the past, doomed to repeat the same patterns over and over. Let the past be a teacher, not a dictator.”

We’re still in Capricorn Season, so themes of being pragmatic, grounded, and business oriented will be playing in the background. Cancer is the most sentimental of all the signs and Capricorn is the least, so there might be tug and pull effect of memories popping up, especially with your mother or having to do with mother issues (Cancer rules mothers) and you not sure what to let go of and what to keep. I say, keep the stuff that made you feel good or taught you something important about yourself. All the other crap can stay in the garbage from whence it came. You always have a choice about what you carry with you; choose those bags wisely. Please note here that I’m talking about issues you’ve been going over a million times and need some resolution with. If something new pops up or you’re dealing with an abuse situation, seek help to support you immediately. You only deserve the best, so treat yourself accordingly.

So how can we use the energy of this week to help us? My advice is this: Where are you allowing the past to to be a dictator instead of a teacher in your life? How can you tune in more to your body and feelings to find answers for yourself, and what do you need to do to help yourself decipher what your body and emotions are saying? What healing needs to occur around your mother (or mother issues that can include fertility and being a mother yourself), and how can water play a part in this healing process? This week, feel it out. Trusting yourself takes time, but the investment is worth it <3

Think about drawing down the moon this week. The full moon is a time when relationships of all kinds are highlighted, including the one with yourself. It’s also a time when projects started at the last new moon can be harvested or completed. Take stock right now of any imbalances in your partnerships and wrap up projects that need to move on to the next level. You can also set out a bowl of water at this full moon to soak up all the energy. You can use it later to scry in or use the water to nourish yourself with. If you like to do incantations, prayer or mediation at the full moon, this will add some pep to your step. I like this Pagan/Wiccan incantation I found that says, “Mother Goddess, lend me your light. Give me your power on this faithful night. I invoke you into my being and soul. Fill up my vessel, make me feel whole. I stand before you in awe and in love. I cherish your gifts you send from above. I ask you tonight to show unto me. My mother, my Goddess, So Mote It Be.” Feel free to change this in any way you like or to make it your own, any way you see fit. Make sure to face the full moon and out stretch your arms so you can take everything in. Enjoy this powerful energy!

Go ahead and pick a card from above (pick one, two, or all three cards–pick what you’re drawn to). The stone you see in the picture is Rainbow Moonstone. Legendary as the Traveler’s Stone, Moonstone is especially protective of those who travel by night or upon the water when the moon is shining. Frequent travelers should keep one in the glove compartment for safe night driving and as protection against road rage. Moonstone opens the heart to nurturing qualities as well as assisting in the acceptance of love. It is an excellent crystal for first or new love, and is a comforting talisman if love must be kept a secret. It was also believed to be able to reunite loved ones who had parted in anger. Moonstone is also the stone of love and eroticism, stimulating the kundalini energy and carnal desires. It is the ultimate fertility crystal. A Moonstone necklace worn during lovemaking at full moon harmonizes the body into the natural lunar cycle. Or, for fidelity or fertility, make a grid of thirteen Moonstone crystals with a circle of the twelve months around a bedroom, and one centered under the bed. As a professional support stone, Moonstone aids dancers and artists in their self-expression, inspires the heart and feeling in executives, and helps educators in sharing activities. It enhances self-acceptance in waiters and waitresses, and promotes sensitivity in psychologists and secretaries. If you’d like to learn more about this stone, please go here.
