The week ahead: October 10th through October 16th:

“If you ain’t gonna do me right, I might just do you in, Ain’t it a sin.” – Charles Bradley

We have a full moon coming up this week in the sign of Aries on the 16th. Aries is the first in the zodiac and ruled by the warrior planet, Mars. Most notably, Aries are known for being headstrong, fearless, and passionate, ready to face the day with youthful optimism. On the other hand, Aries are known for being a bit selfish and self absorbed, focusing mainly on their story; since it’s the most important one 😉  Aries are also known for their short (if there’s even a fuse) tempers, and sometimes that optimism can teeter on naivety. Be careful this week of getting caught up in your own story, or ignoring others stories because you feel yours is the most important, or worse, letting your temper get away with you.

Since we’re in the tail end of Libra season, peace, order, and balance are still being called for here, but with this highly emotional and passionate full moon, I feel like we’ll all be ready to throw off the shackles (put on by someone else or even ourselves—it’s time to find out which it is) and start our new day, sick of trying to do the right thing if it isn’t being reciprocated. Full moons are generally a time where things have reached a culmination and we’re ready to harvest what we’ve planted. Relationships are going to be a main focus as well right now, so take a look at your most important ones and make sure that everything is in good working order. So how can we use this influence to help us right now? My advice is this: Look to see in your life where you can step outside of your comfort zone and be bold and brave in the face of your fear. Aries rules the Spring Equinox, where flowers who have been underground, making their way to the top, are starting to push and shove their way through the snow and debris from the winter to be born again, grappling and grasping for the first light, ready to establish themselves in this world. You are that flower and it’s time for you to be reborn; to shrug off the past (as long as you have learned from it) and to begin again. The energy of the full moon also makes me think of a victim standing up to the abuser or any David and Goliath story you can think of where the underdog finally has enough and does something about it. This week, stand up and be born again. You’re so ready for that new day and that breaking dawn is calling your beautiful name—answer it!

Think about drawing down the moon on the 16th. If you like to do incantations, prayer or mediation at the full moon, this will add some pep to your step. I like this Pagan/Wiccan incantation I found that says, “Mother Goddess, lend me your light. Give me your power on this faithful night. I invoke you into my being and soul. Fill up my vessel, make me feel whole. I stand before you in awe and in love. I cherish your gifts you send from above. I ask you tonight to show unto me. My mother, my Goddess, So Mote It Be.” Feel free to change this in any way you like or to make it your own, any way you see fit. Make sure to face the full moon and out stretch your arms so you can take everything in. Enjoy this powerful energy!

Go ahead and pick a card from above (pick one, two, or all three cards–pick what you’re drawn to). The stone you see in the picture above is carnelian. Like the unexpected fire of a sunset, or the first flash of autumn brilliance, Carnelian captivates. Its bold energy brings a rush of warmth and joy that lingers, stimulating and empowering. Known as a stone of motivation and endurance, leadership and courage, Carnelians have protected and inspired throughout history. A glassy, translucent stone, Carnelian is an orange-colored variety of Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Its color varies from pale pinkish-orange to a deep rusty brown, though it is most known for its brilliant orange and red-orange crystals. Its name comes from a Latin word meaning “flesh.” In antiquity, as well as today, Carnelian is believed to help timid speakers become both eloquent and bold. Ancient Warriors wore Carnelian around their neck for courage and physical power to conquer their enemies. In Egypt it was worn by master architects to show their rank of builder, and alchemists of the Middle Ages used it as a boiling stone to activate the energy of other Chalcedonies. As the first stone in the breastplate of the High Priest, it signified the blood of the martyrs, and was once believed to prevent illness and the Plague. The ancient Egyptians called Carnelian “the setting sun.” In its orange hues, they identified it with the receptive or passive female energies, and associated it with the fertile menstrual blood of the mother goddess, Isis. In its red, red-orange to reddish brown shades, they considered it the active male energy stone, recognized by its glowing vibrant color. Carnelian is traditionally worn to enhance passion, love, and desire. If you chose card #1: Your message is about the Eight of Swords. Your card goes on to say that the Eight of Swords suggest an inability to move forward, as your perception may be clouded. How are you processing your energy and thoughts? Fear-based thinking will limit your view of the world and keep you in a state of entrapment. If you feel helpless, affected by external circumstances (or other people), know that you alone have the power to make a change. It is important to remember that you cannot control the thoughts or views of others, but you can control how you think and react. It is a choice to be either victimized and disempowered, or strong and limitless in your potential. Additional Meanings: Helplessness • Disempowerment • Choice • Perspective.

If you chose card #2: Your message this week is about the Page of Swords. Your card goes on to say that if this is about a situation: A renewed sense of vitality and energy is on the horizon! Now is the time to move forward with any plans you have, regardless of the thoughts or views of those around you. The Page of Swords represents the beginning phase or initial steps of a venture or project. There’s also a naïve sense of optimism that comes with certain risk-taking, which is sometimes necessary in searching for truth and potential success. Do not be afraid to take a leap into the unknown. If this is about a person: A highly perceptive and discerning individual who is both ambitious and logical. This person absorbs information like a sponge, and is also capable of understanding highly complex ideas. The Page of Swords lives by a code of truth, communication, and frank honesty, which makes them excellent speakers, writers, and teachers. Despite their intellectualism, they may need more life experience, in order to discern between their logical mind and Spiritual self. Additional Meanings: Enthusiastic • Knowledgeable • Logical • Passionate.

If you chose card #3: Your message this week is about the Two of Wands. Your card goes on to say that this is a great time of clarity and success as you direct your focus into achieving your goals. You have acknowledged your options and can now look ahead with purpose and determination. This is also a card of power and choice. It may be that you will need to decide how you are dividing your own energy between certain projects, relationships, or opportunities. You have the power to take an initiative or risk without worrying about potential outcomes. You are following your own path, which leads to the acknowledgment of your inner truths and true creativity. Additional Meanings: Personal power • Inventive • Facing your fears • Seeking wisdom • Individuality • Choice • Options • Partnerships.

My hope for you this week is that you take a stand to what’s been backing you into a corner. Don’t take that crap anymore! If it’s self induced, it’s time to have a chat with your inner child and figure out what’s going on–you may just need some love and attention. When in doubt this week:  in the face of fear, show your brave <3

This is your week! Make it an amazing one 🙂
